The Royal Yacht Squadron has played a pre-eminent role in the evolution of yachting for over 200 years, from its iconic base at Cowes Castle. It is a driving force in British yachting and its famous canons have started more classic races than any others in the world.
Recently, the Squadron has renewed its connection with great classics, inviting them to sail under its auspices in the Solent.

The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club has been a feature of Falmouth’s iconic harbour since 1871 and is a popular destination for many westward bound yachts that follow the regatta circuit, after Cowes Week.
Its association with 1930s Big Class boats is vividly preserved in the collection of racing flags presented to the club. Today it remains a vibrant club and hosts many national and international events.

Dartmouth’s fortified harbour and the adjacent Start Bay have been a picturesque home to the Royal Dart Yacht Club since 1866.

The club was a calling point on the pre-war regatta circuit and classic racing reached its apogee here in 1937 with the Coronation Regatta, when Big Class boats and over 300 other yachts came in attendance.

Established in 1838, the Société des Régattes du Havre is France’s oldest saltwater racing yacht club and a key venue for many classic cross-channel races.

Alongside Deauville, the town of Le Havre plays a key role as Paris’ de facto seafront, but it stands alone as the prime French venue for yachting. This club has a long and celebrated history, having hosted a myriad of regattas ranging from J Class all the way down to Olympics classes.
